Fish Kosha is a slightly dry version of the normal fish curry with added flavors of spices. As this is a dry recipe, if you have it with rice you will either need daal or make the rice into pulao. The Fish Kosha Recipe is a great choice if you want a variation from the daily fish curry versions and want a change. This is not super-spicy at all and can be cooked as a daily preparation as well. Members who are not that fond of fish will also like this recipe for sure.

Ingredients to make Fish Kosha

Ingredients

  • 500gm fish pcs
  • 3 medium size chopped onion
  • 1 medium size chopped tomato
  • 5-6 pcs of chopped garlic pcs
  • 2 inch chopped ginger
  • 2 cardamon
  • 1 stick of cinnamon
  • 2 chopped green chili
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of cumin-coriander paste
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil
  • Few chopped coriander leaves
  • 2-3 cloves

How to prepare Fish Kosha

Method

Step 1

Take 500 gm of fish pieces, wash them properly and marinade with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, salt to taste and 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste and keep aside for 15 mins.

Step 2

Take a pan and heat 1 cup of vegetable oil. Put all the fish pieces and fry till it become golden brown in colour.

Step 3

Remove extra oil in the same pan until approx 2 tablespoon of oil is left. Put 2 cardamon,1 stick of cinnamon, 2-3 cloves, when its starts splutter, put 3 medium size chopped onion, 1 medium size chopped tomato, 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder and salt to taste. Fry till it become half tender.

Step 4

Now put 5-6 pcs of chopped garlic, 2 inch of chopped ginger, 2 chopped green chili and fry for 2-3 mins. Then put 1 teaspoon of coriander-cumin powder.

Step 5

Cook till oil separate from masala. Now add fried fish pieces and cook for 2-3 mins.

Step 6

Add little water and make a thick gravy. Put few chopped coriander leaves.

Step 7

Fish kosha is ready to serve hot with rice for lunch.
