Chicken Momo is a very popular dish originating from Sikkim (I guess!) that tastes really good and kind of healthy as well (steam version, of course). Try this Chicken Momo Recipe when you have lots of time and willingness to experiment. This is a fabulous snacks non-veg recipe that will be enjoyed by everyone in your family. Some may not like the steamed version, but the fried version is bound to be a hit.


  • 250gm minced chicken
  • salt to taste
  • 2 medium size chopped onion
  • 3 chopped green chili
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 2 cups of maida (all purpose flour)
  • little vegetable oil

How to make Chicken Momo (Steam and Fried versions)


Step 1

Take 250gm minced chicken and marinade with salt to taste, 2 medium size chopped onion, 3 chopped green chili, 1 tablespoon ginger paste for 15 min.

Step 2

In a bowl put 2 cups of maida (all purpose flour) and knead with little by little water and make a soft dough.

Step 3

Make small balls of the dough and roll it in size of puri (4 inch diameter) and put 1 teaspoon of chicken stuffing (step 2) and close each corner vertically.

Step 4

Take a steamer and grease the tray with little oil and put water at the bottom of the stemer and boil it.

Step 5

Now put the chicken stuffed dough (step 3) and steam it for 15 mins at low flame.

Step 6

Steamed Chicken Momo is ready.

Step 7

For Fried Momo: Take a non-stick frying pan heat 1 cup of vegetable oil and deep fry till it become golden brown in color.

Step 8

Chicken momo is ready to serve hot with sauce or hot tomato chutney.
