Chicken Hariyali is a chicken recipe that looks green. If you do not like green looking dishes, this is not for you. However if you love coriander leaves and occasionally a different chicken preparation that standard spicy ones, then this Chicken Hariyali Recipe is an ideal one for you. Light on spices, this item will definitely have a refreshing look in your lunch/dinner table with pulao or paratha as this is a dry recipe.

Ingredients to make Chicken Hariyali

Ingredients

  • chicken 500 gm
  • 2 medium size onions
  • 1 medium size tomato
  • Few cashew nuts
  • 3-4 laung (cloves)
  • 2 whole cardamon
  • 1 stick of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 6-7 garlic
  • 2 inch ginger
  • salt to taste
  • 50gm coriander leaves
  • 2 tablespoon of cumin-coriander powder
  • Few mint leaves
  • 3-4 green chili
  • little water
  • 4 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon of red chili powder

Steps to prepare Chicken Hariyali

Method

Step 1

In a pan heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and put 2 cardamon, 1 stick of cinnamon and 3-4 laung (cloves),

Step 2

When it starts to splutter, put 2 medium size onion (cut into thin long pieces), 1 medium size tomato (cut into long pieces) and fry till it is half tender. Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder.

Step 3

Now put few cashew nuts, 3-4 green chili, 6-7 whole garlic, 2 inch whole ginger and fry for 2 mins.

Step 4

Take a mixer grinder put all the ingredients above, few mint leaves, 50gm coriander leaves and little water make it in a smooth paste.

Step 5

In a bowl put 500 gm chicken (properly washed) put 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, mixer grinder paste (Step 4), 2 teaspoon of cumin-coriander powder and leave for 30 mins.

Step 6

In the same pan (Step 1) heat 3 tablespoon of vegetable oil and put all the marinated chicken in the pan and close the lid pf pan and cook till chicken is tender and oil separates from the gravy. You can also put 1 teaspoon of red chili powder.

Step 7

Chicken Haryali is ready to serve hot with Paratha or Puri for Lunch/Dinner
