Sooji ka halwa is a moderately sweet dish that can be server stand-alone or as side dish with roti, puri or even bread. This can also be served as dessert. Such multitude of options make this dish really popular in an Indian kitchen. You can control the amount of sweetness for a better diet. This is also ideal for pujas with other veg dishes.
- 200gm sooji
- 1 bay leaves
- 100gm sugar
- Few Cashew nuts
- Few Rasin
- Few Cardamom
- 3 tablespoon of Ghee
Cooking time: 15 mins
1. In a non- stick kadhai heat 3 tablespoon of ghee then put 1 bay leaves (broken into half), 200gm sooji and fry till it become little golden brown.
Note: Be careful when the sooji starts to become yellowish brown. At this time the sooji turns brown really quickly. And always keep stirring.
2. Put 100gm sugar (half quantity as sooji) into the kadhai and pour water slowly stirring the whole mixture continuously. Quantity of water is 3 times of quantity of sooji.
3. Finally drop in few cashew nuts, Rasin and cardamom (cut into half) and stir till dry as per requirement.
Sooji ka halwa is ready to serve with Puri or Chappati (Roti) for breakfast or heavy snacks.
