Ingredients
- 1 cup Chana dal
- Whole cumin seeds
- 2-3 sticks of cinnamon stick
- dry red chili
- 1 medium size chopped onion
- Few chopped coriander leaves
- Few chopped curry leaves
- 2-3 chopped green chili
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon besan (gram flour)
- 1 cup of vegetable oil
Preparation Time: 10 min
Cooking Time: 15 min
Serves: 4
How to make Masala Vada
1. Soak 1 cup Chana dal overnight.
2. In a mixer grinder put pinch of whole cumin seeds, 2-3 sticks of cinnamon stick, dry red chili and grind til it become powder. Put the powder in a bowl.
3. Put soaked chana dal in the mixer grinder and grind coarsely, do not add water.Put the grinded chana dal over the grinder powder (step 2) and mix well.
4. Put 1 medium size chopped onion, few chopped coriander leaves, few chopped curry leaves , 2-3 chopped green chili , salt to taste,1 teaspoon besan ( gram flour) over the chana dal mixture (step 3) and mix well.
5.Make the round shape vada of chana dal mixture.
6.Take a non-stick frying pan and heat 1 cup of vegetable oil, fry the round shape vada (step 5) till it become golden brown.
Masala Vada is ready to serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato sauce for a evening snacks.
