Lachha Paratha is a special alternative to normal paratha. This variety of paratha is soft at some parts and crispy at other. The Lachha Paratha is ideal with spicy side dishes like chicken or paneer items. The preparation of Lachha Paratha does take some skill but is not hard to practise, specially if you are good at making roti / chappati / standard paratha. So let’s jump into the Lachha Paratha Recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup maida (All purpose flour)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 beated egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Vegetable Oil

Preparation Time: 10 min
Cooking Time: 15 min
Serve: 2

How to make Lachha Paratha

1. In a bowl put 1.5 cup maida (All purpose flour), 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 1 beated egg, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoon vegetable oil and mix well. Make it a soft dough by adding little by little water and keep aside for 15 mins.

2. Make the dough into a small size balls and roll it in a thin round shape circle approx 6-7 inch in length. Spread 1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil, then little maida over the paratha and fold it in many parts from the upper side of the paratha like a fan shape. Roll the paratha in one direction and join the one end of paratha with other end like a dough, keep it in a refrigerator for 1 hour. See the illustrations below for reference

3. Roll the paratha again in round shape circle, spread little oil over the roller and then roll the paratha. Again refer to the below illustrations.

4. Take a non-stick pan heat for 2 mins, then put the paratha over the pan cook both side, put 1 teaspoon vegetable oil over one side of paratha and press it with a wooden stick turn both side of paratha one by one and cook till it become little brown and crispy.

Lachha Paratha is ready to serve hot with Butter Chicken and with many chicken dishes or even paneer items for dinner.
