Kata Namkeen (Nimki) is an excellent item to serve with evening tea/coffee (almost irreplaceable). Of course you can always buy ready-made stuff but there’s simply no comparison with crispy home made namkeen. You guests (and family) will definitely notice the difference and the namkeen recipe will become the hot topic of discussion. Try this kata namkeen recipe.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup maida ( All purpose flour)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ajwain
  • Vegetable oil
  • Salt

Cooking time 15 mins

Preparation time: 10 mins

Serves : 4

How to make Namkeen

1. In a bowl put 1 cup maida (All purpose flour), salt to taste, 1/2 teaspoon ajwain, 2 tablespoon vegetable oil and mix well, then put little by little water and make a soft dough.

2. Make the dough into medium size ball and roll the dough into 6 inch thin round shape circle, then cut it diagonally with knife at the distance of 1 inch (approx) in all over the dough, then cut it again in the reverse order (diagonally). See the reference photos below


3. In a non stick pan heat 1 cup of vegetable oil, then fry the namkin till it become little brown. Keep it in a tissue paper so that extra oil will be soaked.

Kata Namkeen is ready to serve with tea or coffee as evening snacks.
