Kacha Kela ka Pakora is a super-healthy recipe using kacha kela (raw or green banana) and at the same time tastes awesome. This is a great item to prepare for someone who has special restrictions in food (for e.g. less spice, no deep fried items, etc). Although this is a pakora, it uses very little amount of oil and is almost roasted rather than “fried”. Hence Kacha Kela ka Pakora is ideal when you (or someone in your family) are supposed to take healthy meal and yet want to have something delicious and tasty items in your menu.

Ingredients

  • 2 Raw banana (green banana) or Kacha Kela
  • 1 Small potato
  • 1 medium size chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2-3 chopped green chili
  • 1 teaspoon of roasted cumin powder
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (posto)
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Preparation Time: 10 min
Cooking Time: 20 min
Serves: 4

How to make Kacha Kela Ka Pakora

1. Take 2 raw banana / green banana / kach kela and 1 small potato, cut both the vegetables into half pieces and boil it in the micro- oven for 8 mins, remove the skin of potato and banana and mash (do not mash too much) them. Keep aside.

2. In a bowl put 1 medium size chopped onion, 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder, 2-3 chopped green chili, 1 teaspoon of roasted cumin powder, 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (posto), salt to taste, chopped coriander leaves and mashed potato and banana (step 1). Mix well.

3. Make round shape balls with the mixture (step 2), flatten them a little and keep aside.

4. Take a non-stick frying pan put only 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and fry 5-6 round shape pakora till both the sides become brown in color, if the oil absorbes do not add more oil  because this pakora is primarily cooked in a roasted method.

5. Repeat the process for another 4-5 pakora.

Kacha Kela ka Pakora is ready to serve hot with tomato sauce. This pakora does not taste good when cold. So remember to warm it up if you are serving late. It is best to serve them just after preparing. That way it’s perfectly healthy in all respects.
