Datha PostoDatha Posto (sojne data with poppy seeds) is a classy preparation of datha (called sojne data in Bengali) with poppy seeds. Its the poppy seeds that make the recipe classy. This is a dry recipe ideal with rice accompanied with dal (or any other curry). Try this vegetarian Datha Posto (sojne data with poppy seeds) Recipe when you want to try something different with the sojne data (datha). But this preparation is a bit time consuming from preparation to cooking. So plan ahead (40-45mins) to cook this delicacy.


Ingredients

  • 200gm datha (sojne data)
  • 2 medium size potato
  • 4 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1 green chili
  • Pinch of panch phoran
  • 2 dry red chili
  • 3 tablespoon of posto (poppy seeds)
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

Preparation Time: 30 min
Cooking Time: 25 min
Serves: 4

How to make Datha Posto (sojne data with poppy seeds).

1. Take 200gm datha (sojne data), cut it into 4 inch pieces and peel off the dark green portion around the datha with hand.

2. Cut 2 medium size potato in medium pieces, at first peel off its skin and then wash it properly.

3. Take a non-stick frying pan heat 4 tablespoon of vegetable oil put the datha pieces into the oil with little salt and little turmeric powder. Fry it till it become little brown in color and keep aside.

4. In the same oil, put pinch of panch phoran and 2 dry red chili broken into half in the pan and put the potato pieces with little salt and little turmeric powder and fry till it is half tender.

5. In a bowl put 3 tablespoon of posto and soak it for 10 mins, then drain the excess water and grind the posto till it become smooth paste.

6. Now put the fried datha (step 3) into the pan and cook for 5 mins with little water. Then put the posto paste (step 5), salt to taste, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder and cook for 4-5 mins and add 1 or 2 green chili (according to taste) slightly splitted.

Datha Posto (sojne data with poppy seeds) is ready to serve hot with plain Rice for Lunch.
