dahi bhindi (lady finger with yogurt)Dahi Bhindi is a variation of Masala Bhindi (Spicy Lady fingers) but with added yogurt and minus the spices. Thus this recipe is quite healthy and tasty as well. This item is ideal with roti/paratha as main dish. The Dahi Bhindi Recipe is a perfect one when you have okra (bhindi) and yogurt and nothing else in your kitchen inventory. Ingredients

  • 250 gm bhindi (okra / ladies finger)
  • 4-5 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (or more if you want hotter version)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 3-4 tablespoon of yoghurt (dahi / curd)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste

Preparation Time: 15 min
Cooking Time: 30 min
Serves: 4

How to make Dahi Bhindi

1. Take 250 gm bhindi, cut only top and bottom part of the bhindi and wash it in running water.

2. Take a non-stick frying pan heat 4-5 tablespoon of vegetable oil fry bhindi with little salt and little turmeric powder till it become little golden brown in color. Take it out from the pan and keep aside.

3. In a small bowl put salt to taste, 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste with little water and make a thick paste. Put this paste in the same pan and in the remaining oil, fry for few minutes.

4. In another bowl put 3-4 tablespoon of yoghurt (dahi / curd) beat it properly with 1 teaspoon sugar and put it in the pan. cook for 2-3 mins.

5. Now put the fried bhindi (step 2) into the masala with little water and cook till bhindi becomes fully tender.

Dahi Bhindi is ready to serve hot with Roti, Paratha or Plain Rice for Dinner.
