Chingri (Shrimp) Malaikari is a specialty dish mostly popular among Bengalis. This is a spicy and rich item that uses cocunut milk, yogurt and thick cream together, so you get the idea. It also includes other spices as well. So you can comprehend the richness and the superior taste alike. So let’s get to the Chingri (Shrimp) Malaikari Recipe


Ingredients

  • 300gm Shrimp
  • turmeric powder
  • red chili powder
  • 1 potato
  • 2 onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoon coconut milk

Preparation Time: 15 min
Cooking Time: 25 min
Serves: 2

How to prepare Chingri (Shrimp) Malaikari

1. Take 300gm Shrimp, wash them properly and marinate with 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder for 15 mins.

2 Take 1 potato and cut them in medium size pieces and marinade with 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder for 10 mins.

3. In a non-stick kadhai heat 1/2 cup vegetable oil and fry shrimp and potato one by one till it become golden brown and keep aside.

4. In the same pan and oil fry 2 medium size chopped onion till it becomes half tender, then make a paste of 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder, 1teaspoon coriander powder, 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder, 1/2 taspoon garlic paste and salt to taste and put the masala into the onion and fry till oil comes out of the masala.

5. Put the fried potato into the kadhai (step4), then add 1 teaspoon yogurt, 1 teaspoon cream, 2 teaspoon coconut milk and 1 cup water and boil for few mins.

6. Add fried shrimp (step 3) into kadhai and mix well and stir till it is fully cooked.

Chingri (Shrimp) malaikari is ready to serve for lunch or dinner with pulao, rice or Roti (Chappati).
