The movie Toh baat pakki was not very enjoyable to watch till the end and did leave me with a hopeless and frustrated feeling of watching it for almost 3 hours. The plot is very weak, sluggish and poorly planned and if it was really meant to be an “easy-going-simple” family drama then it should have been less than 90mins. Sparse comedy and unnecessary inclusion of songs has made this movie worth watching only for Tabu fans. This movie is made around Tabu’s plans and she really had a fresh look in this movie and of course completely taking over the entire duration of the movie. Even the girl to get married Yuvika Chaudhary couldn’t come to forefront due to lack of dialog. If it was not Tabu, I might have just stopped watching just after intermission.
The director Kedarh Shinde had a great potential in this movie to bring the best of Tabu and also a sweet family plot condensed with comedy that doesn’t need too much brain to understand. But I must say it is a failed attempt in all the areas. The second half suddenly gained unrealistic pace and everything started to happen quickly and ended in a hugh sigh. The only song I remembered after the movie was “Jis Din Mera Byaah” by Pritam who did quite OK with the music.
Overall a movie you can avoid unless you want to have a look at Tabu’s fresh return to Hindi movies or have ~3hours to waste.
