Karthik calling Karthik is a slightly different than the main-stream commercial movie obviously taking the idea from Hollywood movies made on mental disorders. The movie starts rather slow and becomes even slower in the middle but is successful in creating some curiosity among the viewers near the end of the movie. We do get to see very good acting by Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone (a bit of overacting was noticeable though). There wasn’t a lot of star cast in this movie nor exotic locations and song/dance sequences. Yet this movie does present us with the required environment and mood elegantly and successfully.
I would give this movie 7/10 because it did very well in cutting the crap and really concentrating on the theme. Although the idea is common, the story line is completely original. But the movie could have been better if it wouldn’t have made Karthik’s “mental condition” too obvious in the beginning itself. A must watch for serious movie fans. You will not regret the 2 hours spent on this.
